Frequently Asked Questions
1. At what age should chiropractic care begin?
Newborns receive spinal adjustments, especially after difficult or traumatic births. All babies should have spinal check ups.
2. Can I tell if I have a subluxation without consulting a chiropractor?
Not always. A subluxation is like a cavity, you may have it for a long time before symptoms appear. That's why periodic spinal check ups are so important.
3. Is chiropractic similar to massage?
No! Chiropractic deals with the spinal column, nervous system, meninges and body structure. Massage therapists deal with muscle tension, circulation, and body fluid drainage.
4. Do chiropractors work in hospitals?
Today chiropractors have priveledges in many hospitals. Many medical doctors and chiropractors work together in clinics and projects. Most chiropractic practices have patients that are medical doctors.
5.How often should I get a spinal adjustment?
As soon as you develop subluxations. The problem is that many subluxations are initially painless. That is why it's a good idea to have regular spinal check ups, just as you have regular dental check ups.
6. Can a person with a broken back or neck see a chiropractor?
After the break heals, yes. In fact, a broke bone forms a callus when it heals that is stronger than the rest of the bone. People with broken bones need chiropractic check ups because accidents usually cause subluxations.
